Happy Anniversary to my hubby!

Last week my husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. I just had to share the card I made for him.
I used a template found here. The base is cs from HL. The printed paper is from SU Patterns Pack III. The black and bead trim is from my misc. ribbon stash. I used a K&Company rub on for the "love" tattoo and a stamp on the back for the heart tattoo. Of course he loved it! I had a lot of fun making it for him too.

Happy Valentine's Ladybug!

Hello everyone! Christmas is in 2 days! Are you ready? finished shopping? mailed Christmas cards? gifts wrapped? The answers for me are yes, yes, yes and yes! The girls are getting pictures made today and then we are done! Since I am done and since my husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary yesterday, I thought I would make a Valentine's card! I'll post the anniversary card I made in a few days. You will not want to miss it!

First I thought I would try a 6x6 card. I had not done one this size before but after it was finished I decided I really like that size. Hmmm..I see more of those in the future. For my card I used a digital image from Deedee's Digis called "Love Bug". I also used the words from "Love You Beary Much" (which by the way is the gift with purchase set for this month).

The sketch is from The Sweet Stop and they added a twist to their challenge by asking us to use stitching. I stitched the polka dot dp to the floral dp and also stitched the ribbon which you can see below. Stitching on my cards is another thing I haven't done much but really liked it.

I finished the inside with the sentiment from the Love Bug set and some dp.

Supplies:
stamp: Deedee's Digis
paper: SU, black cs, HL (base)
other: ribbon - M's, chipboard heart, Spellbinders dies, CM cutting system, dimensionals, stitching

Other challenges entered:
One Stitch at a Time: #43 anything goes
Tuesday Morning Sketches: #73 Embellish it
Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes
Aud Sentiments: #18 anything goes
the Crafty Pad: #102 anything goes
I Did It Creations: #34 anything goes
Aly's Sunday Challenge: ASC32 anything goes
Stamps R Us: #11 anything goes
Crafty Sentiments Designs: anything goes

I hope you liked my project today!

hugs,
Michele

Critter challenge #45

Happy Monday everyone! Guess what . . . Christmas is in five days! Yikes, where did the time go? I, for one, am glad it is Monday, at least this Monday. I have been busy busy with my oldest daughter's dance schedule and rehearsals for her Nutcracker performances. We finished Saturday night. After many hours of practice, rehearsal, costume fittings and everything else involved, they had three successful performances to almost sold out audiences each time. I am so proud of her! Ok, before I get all weepy, onto the challenge.

Melanie gave us an easy one this week - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS! We are still sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps. There are lots of wonderful and fun images at Bugaboo. If you haven't checked them out yet, you really should.

For my project, I used two images - Mary and Joseph & Mary, Joseph and child. They can be found here. I welded three tags together with my Cricut Design studio software and cut them out in SU Kraft cs. The verse is from the SU set . I used copics to color the images and matted on SU Forest Foliage cs.

Other challenges for this project:
If the Shoe Fits: #59 kraft cs
Stamp something: tag or pocket
Prairie Fairy Fridays: #42 kraft cs
The Stamp Man: #12 tag
Allsorts: #83 anything goes
Simple Doodles: Tag it out
Creative Inspirations: #49 Anything Christmas
2 Sisters Challenge: Christmas

I hope you enjoyed my project today. Be sure to check out the other DT projects for some wonderful Christmas inspiration. I hope you have a blessed Christmas!

Critter Monday

It's Monday but you don't have to groan because the great thing about Monday is a new Critter challenge! It is also a new month which means a new sponsor. Our fabulous sponsor for December is Bugaboo Stamps.

This week at the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog, we were challenged to use this sketch and the colors purple and teal.

I flipped it and used the image from Bugaboo called Snowman bells. He is just one of several snowman available at Bugaboo Stamps. I love the dp I used. It is some I got at HL 'just because'. That's where the teal and purple part of the challenge come in. I colored the image with watercolor pencils and used teal/purple on the scarf and purple on the hat. I then used a gold pen over the ribbon on the bells and hat and also the swirls in the hat. The snowflakes (teal and purple again) are punched with the CM punch and popped up with dimensionals. The sentiment is punched with a CM decorative square punch, stamped in Taken with Teal and popped up.

supplies- paper from HL, misc., SU ink, SU and Derwent watercolor pencils, gold pen, dimensionals, CM punches, image by Bugaboo Stamps.

For more wonderful inspiration, check out the other DT members' projects.

I am also entering this in the following challenges:

Catch the Bug (Bugaboo challenge blog) - anything goes
Totally Papercrafts - #45 Christmas punches (snowflake punch)
Scrap-Creations - anything goes
Pear Tree Designs - #20 Winter wonderland
Paper Playtime - #28 snowflakes

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you like my card and can join us at Critter Sketch Challenge this week. I love reading your comments so be sure to say hi!

Critter Challenge #41 - Food

Monday, Monday, Monday - it's time for another Critter challenge at the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog. Our monthly sponsor is Stamp and Create. If you haven't been to the store, you need to head over there. Just some of the lines they carry include: Wags n Whiskers, Whiff of Joy, Penny Black, Spellbinders and much much more!

This week's theme is: FOOD!! I decided to make this cute birthday card with cupcakes.
I embossed the base cs with a cuttlebug folder. The dp is some I had in my scrap stash. I ran the green for the cupcake bottom thru the crimper and then punched the cupcakes with a MS punch. I added some seed beads for sprinkles. The ribbon is SU So Saffron.

There you have it - a cute and easy birthday card!

Check out the other DT members projects for more inspiration!

I hope you liked my card. Be sure to join us in the challenge this week.

Deedee's Digis 'Tis Better To Give' Blog Hop

Can you believe it is just 36 days left until Christmas? I think my favorite gifts to give for Christmas are the ones I make. One year I made about two dozen jars of cookie mixes and gave them to family and friends. This blog hop is all about giving. If you hopped here from Sandy's blog, you are on the right track. If not, start at Crafting with Deedee's Digis where you will find the blog hop directions, a chance to win a $15 store credit and a FREE digi. You are sure to be inspired with fabulous stocking stuffer and gift ideas for this holiday season.

I actually have two projects to show you today. The first one is a 5x5 notebook I found in M's $1 aisle. I LOVE M's and Target's $1 aisles. The one pictured here is similar to one I used.

I covered the inside front with burgundy cs and added three of the poinsettias from Beauty of the Season set. I colored them with copics and cut them out. The sentiment on the inside and the outside is also from the set. I covered the front with dp and added a Martha Stewart pre-made border in gold to the binding and trimmed pieces to make the gold top of an ornament.

My second project is a baby jar filled with Hershey Kisses. I wrapped dp around the jar and black gingham ribbon to the top and bottom of the dp. The image is from the Merry & Bright set. I used copics for all but the black which was done with a SU marker. I cut a black circle and a matching dp circle with the Creative Memories cutting system for the lid and added ribbon around it. I topped it off with a Hershey Kiss and it is ready to give!

Before you leave, be sure to comment so you will have a chance to win a free digi from Deedee's Digis. You have until noon eastern time on Sunday and winners will be announced on Monday at Crafting with Deedee's Digis.
Thank you so much for joining us for this blog hop. I hope you enjoyed my projects and the projects from the other DT members and were inspired to 'give a gift from the heart'.

Thank you, Veterans!

Each year, one of the ladies ministries at my church hosts a veteran's lunch following service on the Sunday before Veteran's Day. It is for all veterans and their families in our church. Last year I offered to make cards for the attendees. The lady that organizes it asked if I could make cards again this year and of course I said yes. It was a great pleasure to do this. I used a neat little trick I learned to make these cards.

The image is a digital image from Sew Many Cards. I colored it in Photoshop and was able to print 9 images on a page. I also printed the message inside before I cut the base cardstock. It says:

'This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.' ~ Elmer Davis

Your service to your country will be valued forever as we remember your courage and sacrifice on Veteran's Day.

Now for the cutting! I was so excited to find this little gem of a trick. In case you don't know, Provocraft has come out with a new cricut machine called Imagine. It will print in color and cut. So you can print your image and have it cut out at the same time. It will also cut a chunk out of your wallet too at $500! Well, I have this great software called Make the Cut. Someone on the message boards figured out how to print and cut using your printer, Cricut and Make the Cut. Woo hoo! Here is the link to the tutorial I used. Because I printed multiple pages, each image was not cut out in exactly the same spot but it was close enough.

Here's a quick step-by-step of what I did:

1. set up print page in Photoshop, printed and saved

2. opened in Make the Cut and created an outline.

3. line the paper on the mat on the right edge to create a hinge and cut

4. line the printed page under the cut outs, flip the cut out out of the way and cut.

Voila, I had 45 cut images that I did not have to color and cut one at a time!

Thanks for stopping by today. I am dedicating this post to all veterans and their families! Thank you!

Animal Funnies border swap

Ok, I am a Swap addict! I just can't resist them. These are border sets I made for a swap on SCS

I used my Cricut of course for both sets. The Toadally Awesome set used Paisley and Cutting Up cartridges. The Dinomite set used Paperdoll Dress Up, Cutting Up, and Tags Bags Boxes and More.

Cards for a Cause

My oldest daughter's dance company is having a gala dinner fundraiser that includes a silent auction and live auction. I made this set of Christmas cards and matching tote for the silent auction.

I got the directions for the tote from Becky Roberts' blog Inking Idaho. She has some amazing tutorials. I used the one called Becky's Tote-ally Awesome tote. I did modify mine a little. I did 2 pockets on the front instead of 3 and omitted the pocket on the back. I also closed mine with tied ribbon.

For the card, I cased one I found on Everyday Cricut by Melanie. You can see her card here. It is the second card in the post. On my card, I used a Sizzix BG embossing folder on the base. The paper is from an older Creative Memories album kit and the cs is some I got at a LSS that was closing. I used the SU scallop punch on the bottom of the burgundy cs. I cut the cs scallop squares on my cricut at 1 1/4" with Mini Monograms and then cut dp in 1" squares. I used the CM snowflake punch and added a pearl to the center. The tag was cut with the Cricut at 1 1/2" and 1". The sentiment is from SU's Tiny Talk. The ribbon is from Joanne's. My plan was to make 20 cards for the auction but I could barely fit 10 in the tote. Oh, well, I guess I'll have 10 for myself (such a hardship). The same album kit came with dp in blue also so I may make more of them using the blue. I love how this card turned out.
I am also entering this card in the following challenges:
OSAAT: #38 winter wonderland
Anything Goes: #24 Emboss it
Scrap-Creations: christmas cards
One Stop Craft challenge: #105 Embossing
Paper Sundaes: #43 Let it Snow
Crafty Cardmakers: Dry Embossing

I hope you liked my projects today.

Calendar Swap

I participated in a calendar swap on SCS. We had to pick our month/theme and do a double page LO with one page having a calendar on it. When I get this swap back I will have three complete sets of calendar pages. I decided to do three spots so I could give two as Christmas gifts and keep one for myself. I did two Disney themed sets and one general themed set.

So, here's what I came up with for my pages:

This set is for September. I used the Cars Cricut cartridge. I didn't add photo mats to this set so it could be customized.

My set for May. I used the Cricut Tinkerbell cartridge. I also didn't add photo mats to this set.
My January set. I used two CM punches for the snowflakes. The base cs is navy blue.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my projects. Check back because I have a few more swaps to share that I used my Cricut on.

Non Sweet Treat for the Sweetest!

I can't believe October is almost over! This year has just two months left! ahhhhhhh! Oh well, nothing you can do about it. Let's talk Halloween treats. Myself and a few friends are doing Weight Watchers and those treats can sure rack up the points. I thought I would make my friends a non-point treat.

I used a digi stamp from Deedee's Digis called 'Sweetest Treat' to make this post it note holder. You can usually find holiday themed post it note pads in the $1 aisle at Target and that's where I got this one. Target also had Halloween rub-ons (cat, pumpkins, spider) that I used on the coaster part.

I usually have a hard time finding adhesive to stick the ribbon on paper that will hold. I knew the Xyron Create-A-Sticker would work but didn't want the ribbon to have adhesive on the whole length. I finally figured out how to add adhesive to only the middle part of the ribbon.
Here's what I did:
I measured out how much of the ribbon I needed to have adhesive. In this case it was 8 1/4" out of 23.75". Laying the ribbon flat with dotted side up, I folded 7.5" of one end back over the ribbon and 8" of the other end back over the ribbon. The dotted side is inside now (see photo below).

Next you insert the ribbon into the Xyron making sure it is stacked evenly. Slowly pull ribbon through keeping it evenly stacked as you do. (see photo below)

Below you see it run completely through. This technique worked beautifully. You may get some sticky residue on the edge of the rest of the ribbon but you should be able to rub it off. I ran my fingernail along the edge of the ribbon before taking the plastic film off and that seemed to help.

I am entering this project in the following challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenges: #114 Sweet Treats

Fab 'n' Funky: #45 Things that go bump in the night (Halloween projects)

Stamp Something: use digi stamp

Teddy Stampers: #22 anything goes

2 Sisters Challenge blog: #10 anything goes

Pear Tree Designs: #23 halloween

Paper Playtime: #22 Halloween

Crazy 4 Challenges: #C4C60 halloween

Sweet Stampin Challenge: #49 anything but a card

Flutter By Wednesday: #127 anything goes

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my treat project and learned a new trick. Remember, always browse the $1 aisles because you never know what you'll find there. Before you leave, be sure and say Hi and let me know what you thought of today's post.

Happy Haunting!

Critter Challenge # 37

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I worked on swaps all day Saturday and participated in the mini-VSBN on SCS. The main VSBN will be Nov. 5th & 6th so try to join us! So, it's Monday and that means another fabulous challenge at the Critter Sketch Challenge blog. Continuing this month is another wonderful sketch to play with.

Our sponsor for October is Meljen's Designs and there are soooooo many adorable images it is sometimes hard to decide. You can find them all at Whimsy Stamps here.

I chose Meljen's digi stamp - Stuffed Elephant. There are a couple of new or expectant moms at my church so I made this card for one of them.

The cardstock is Cool Caribean and the dp is some I've had in my stash for a long time. It is a light green color but doesn't show up in the photo well. I colored the image with copics (B02, B95) and used the colorless blender to lighten up the cheek circles and toes. The inner tag is punched with the SU tag punch and I matted and free hand cut the outer tag mat. The word "baby" is from SU's All Year cheer II set. I colored a white brad with copic marker G14 and added stickles to it. I had some ABC blocks in my stash and put them on top of the buttons and then added the white ribbon and popped up the image and tag with dimensionals.

I hope you enjoyed my card for the Critter Sketch Challenge. Stop by and play with us for a chance to win a prize. Don't forget to visit the rest of the DT for some fabulous inspiration!

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:

Aud Sentiments: #13 - baby related

Stamp Something: use a digi image

Copic Creations: #37 colorless blender techniques

One Stitch At A time: #36 Any Celebration

Deedee's Digis Thankful Thoughts Blog Hop

I think Fall is my favorite season. I mean you have the crisp cool air, beautiful rich colors through the trees and one of my favorite holidays - Thanksgiving. Though we should be thankful every day for our family, friends and all things that have been provided to us, this time of year really seems to bring it front and center. Not only is it a time of thanksgiving, it is also a time of giving. As you reflect on what you are thankful for this season, how about giving to those in need.
I am so glad you are hopping with us today for Deedee's Digis Thankful Thoughts Blog Hop. Deedee's design team has some wonderful projects to share with you so be sure you visit each stop along the way. You are sure to be inspired! If you just came from Melissa's blog, you are on the right track. If not, you can start the hop at Crafting with Deedee's Digis, start there by clicking here. Deedee has a special blog hop only free digi for you!

Now, onto my project. I always browse the $1 aisle/bins at Michaels looking for items I can alter/revamp/redo. I hit it a few weeks ago when everything was 60% off in that aisle! Among some of the items I got were a few 5x7 journals (these weren't on sale but were less than $2 ea).

........

I used SU paper (Bella Rose) and a verse from Deedee's Digis Words of Thanksgiving set. I cut the tags with my Cricut and added the red satin ribbon. Now check out the flowers! The flowers were made using 4 prima flowers each. I found the tutorial here to make them. One tip, use tacky glue that will hold quickly or it will take forever. The flowers I used were pink but I sponged them with Rose Red ink. This was a quick and easy project that would make a great gift.

Here's how the hop works:
To participate, visit each of the participating designers' blogs to see a fun project using one of Deedee's Digis, and leave a comment on their post for a chance to win a free digi of your choice from the store! You have until 12 noon ET on Sunday to comment. Each designer will choose a winner Sunday evening. All winners will be announced on the Crafting with Deedee's Digis blog Monday. Be sure to check back then to see if you have won! Your next stop is Robin's blog.

Bah Humbug! or is it...

It's Monday everyone so that means a fabulous new Critter Sketch Challenge! Thank you to everyone who joined us last week. I have to say that I designed the sketch last week and it was so fun to see everyone's projects using it. You gals are FABULOUS! Ok, so October is sketch month for the Critter challenges. We also have a new sponsor for this month. It is Meljen's Designs. Melissa gave the DT some adorable images to work with and I had a hard time deciding which one I wanted to use. If you haven't seen the images from Meljen's Designs, you just have to go check them out. They can be found at Whimsy Stamps.

So onto to the challenge. Like I said, all month will be sketch challenges. I love, love, love sketches. That's half the work of card making, I think. Someone else has done that for me, woo hoo! I decided to use the adorable, but grumpy looking, Gruffy Little Gnome from Meljen's Designs.

I used my copics to color the little dude and think I did a pretty good job. I just may be getting the hang of those things. The dp is from Paper Studio's All Seasons stack, the ribbon is SU. Ok, so then I came to the sentiment. Hmmm, he really looks like he is saying "Bah Humbug" but I didn't have a stamp for that so I went with a not-so-obvious-by-looking-at-him sentiment, "You make me smile". (See, I think he is really grinning behind the very high turtle neck he's wearing. ) The tag had me discovering another reason why I am loving my copics. I did not have a red brad so I took a silver one and colored it with my cardinal (R59) marker. Ok, gotta get me s'more of those markers.

Be sure to check out the other Critter Design Teams' projects for this challenge.
thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment to say hi!

Critter Challenge #34

Hello, hello! I finally got around to making a card for Critter Challenge #34, which just happens to be a sketch that I designed. The sponsor for October at the Critter Sketch Challenge blog is Meljens Designs. Melissa creates the most adorable images and she gave a few to the design team for us to play with this month. It has not been difficult at all to play with her designs. I just hope I can do them justice. You can find her digi images at Whimsy Stamps.

Now, onto the challenge. Like I said it is a sketch challenge and the sketch is one I created. It is so exciting to see all the wonderful creations made using it.

For my card, I turned the sketch sideways to fit the image. The image I used is called Country Pumpkins. I colored it with copics and sponged Mellow moss around the edges. The cs is SU kraft, mellow moss, and real rust (I think). The leaves were some I had punched out a while back. The dp is from CM and the yummy chocolate ribbon is SU. The sentiment is from SU Gobble Gobble. I'm so happy I'm starting to get the hang of using the copic markers. I just need more colors.

Be sure to pop over to the Critter Challenge Blog and join in.

I am also entering my card in the following challenges:
Fab 'n' Funky: #43 use digi image
Cute Card Thursday: #133 make your own embellishments
Sew Many Challenges: anything goes
Stacey's Curtain Call: #50 color challenge
Kaboodle Doodles: #41 fall colors

Oh Please Let It Snow!

This is for my first post on the Crafting With Deedee's Digis blog. I used the digi set called Let It Snow which can be found here. Deedee has such great images to work with. I also used Deedee's Monday Challenge which was a sketch. You can find out more on the challenge here.

I used watercolor pencils and glitter for the image. The snowflake and striped paper is from Paper Studios' All Seasons paper stack. I also used SU Bordering Blue cs. The base cs is from some paper I got a closing of a LSS. It has a slight gray color to it. The ribbon is some miscellaneous ribbon I have. I used the top line of the sentiment for the front and put the rest of it on the inside.

This card also qualifies for the following challenges:
Fab 'n' Funky: #43 use digi image
Totally Papercrafts: theme - the great outdoors
Glitterbabe's: 15 -anything goes but must have sparkle

I am so glad you stopped by to visit today. Be sure to leave a comment and say Hi!

Marking His Word

I recently helped plan and attended a ladies 1 day retreat for the ladies at my church. My responsiblity for it was anything crafty. I made bookmarks as a gift for all the ladies and put together card kits for a card we made during the day. Today I am showing you the bookmark. Add Image

All paper is from Hobby Lobby. I used the CM cutting system for the top shape. The cross stamp is from Hobby Lobby I think. I embossed it in gold. The ribbon is also from HL. The bottom of the bookmark has the date, Encouragment (theme of the retreat) and church name. On the back side is a scripture reference we used throughout the day, Jeremiah 29:11.

I am so glad you stopped by today!

Blessings!

Michele
