Designing for Deedee!

Guess what?!! October 1st marks my first day as a design team member for Deedee's Digis! Deedee's Digis has lots and lots of wonderful digital stamps. The owner, Deedee Anderson, is very talented and makes some really great images. She also includes several sentiments and scripture verses with her sets. I love that! Here is a card I made for SC300 on SCS. I used the new Be Jolly set from Deedee's Digis.

I tried the coloring technique using colored pencils and gamsol. Not sure I like it. I actually ended up using my SU watercolor crayons because I couldn't get pencils to blend. I tried watercolor pencils and crayola pencils. If you have any tips, they would be greatly appreciated. I added crystal effects to the black belt and boots and white flocking to the fur trim on Santa's suit. I put gold stickles on the belt buckle and used a gold pen for the present's bow. The paper is from a Paper Studio paper stack called All Seasons. The 'Ho Ho Ho' is also in this digi stamp set. I changed the color in photoshop from black to red. I did the same thing with 'Merry Christmas' from the set and put it inside the card. So what do you think?

Deedee's Digis also has a challenge blog, Crafting with Deedee's Digis. There is a new challenge every Monday. You do have to use Deedee's Digi to be eligible to win that week but, if you use a Deedee's Digi on your card, you will get the weekly $1 digi for free. That's a prize just for entering a card in the challenge. There is always a 'try before you buy' free digi in the store. I have really gotten into digis since I got Photoshop elements. Check back tomorrow to see a card I made using some of Deedee's images and what I did to them in Photoshop.

I love reading your comments so be sure to say hi!

Critter Challenge #32 - Where's the color?

Happy Monday all my blogger friends! Don't think about Monday as the beginning of another week, think of it as "Time for a Critter Sketch Challenge!". The sponsor for this month is Sew Many Cards. If you haven't checked out their store, you really need to. There are so many cute images. I'm sure you'll find something perfect for your next card.

This week's challenge is a color one, or actually a no color one. We were challenged to make a project with natural colors only. NO colors and NO black or white. Natural colors make me think of fall so that's the theme I went with.

Last week on SCS, the Wednesday tutorial was Crimped Diamond technique. It looked really cool and I knew I wanted to try it. It is very easy to do and all you need is a crimper and paper. I cut a scallop circle in chocolate cs with a Spellbinders die and a circle in kraft cs with the CM cutting system. I added some yummy SU chocolate ribbon and a basket cut with the Cricut and punched some leaves with the CM leaf maker. It was an easy, simple card. I hope you liked it!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I really love and appreciate everyone's comments. If you like my blog, I would love to have you as a follower too!

Happy crafting!

Sketchy Thursdays 9/2/10

Sketchy Thursdays has a wonderful sketch challenge. I love sketch challenges because I can then focus on the photos, papers and such to compliment the sketch. Often times the sketches are not what I would think of in my design. I decided to use a photo of my girls and I taken while on a field trip. The background cs is from HL, the dp and pink ribbon is from SU. I used a MS border punch on the brown strip. The journal spot is from Jillie Bean. I have some paper that has daughter type print all over it so I cut out part of it that says "A daughter makes life a little sweeter".

If you love to use scrapbook sketches, Sketchy Thursdays is a must to check out. They post a new challenge very Thursday.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to say Hi!

Critter Sketch Challenge #30

It's Monday and a new month so that means two things: it's time for a new Critter Sketch Challenge and a new sponsor! This month the sponsor is Sew Many Cards. There are some really adorable images available so go check them out. Now, on to the challenge! This week it is a sketch challenge. I knew right away that I wanted to use this adorable image that Sew Many Cards gave the design team to use.

I tried two new things with this card. First, I colored it completely in Photoshop Elements. I am trying to learn my way around that program and I am tickled pink that I figured out how to color in it. I printed it twice and cut out the whole image of one and the cupcake on the other copy and popped them both up with dimensionals. I added glitter to frosting on the cupcake too. The light blue cs was embossed with my Big Shot and the Spots and Dots cuttlebug folder. The green striped paper is SU and teh red dp is CM. I punched a scallop circle with a CM punch and the white circle is also a CM punch. The second new thing I tried was the stitching. I am teaching my youngest dd to sew and we are making a denim jumper for her American Girl doll. My sewing machine just happened to have red thread in it and I thought that area of the card needed something else so I thought "why not!" I have been wanting to try sewing on a card so it seemed like the perfect time. It's not evenly stitched but it's a start.

Don't forget to check out the other Design Team members projects and play along with us this week!

Thanks for stopping by!
