Pinterest - an addiction!

A friend recently lured me to Pinterest. I say lured because I had heard about it but resisted the temptation to join yet another site that would feed my crafty senses and still time that could be used to satisfy those senses. She told me about all the wonderful ideas that could be found on Pinterest and, well, my senses were perked up and interested. So, I caved. (sigh) Yep, it's an addiction. I have viewed and re-pinned lots of projects, ideas, yummy recipes and just plain funny and adorable posts. One board I have created is titled "OMG! Stuff I would like to make but probably never will." Well, I proved myself wrong and actually did make something. I saw this adorable ruffled tree skirt and re-pinned it. We decided to do all new decorations for our tree this year and of course the tree skirt we had didn't match the new color scheme. We went with a purple, white, red, bright blue and bright green scheme. it actually looks really good!

Anyway, I gathered the supplies and set out to make the new tree skirt Sunday afternoon. It is a no-sew ruffled skirt. Yep, NO-SEW! All you need is fabric and a hot glue gun and LOTS of glue sticks. The original directions can be found here and my inspiration can be found here.

After many burns (didn't realize I wasn't using my low-temp gun) and about seven hours later, I finished it. Seriously, I think I may not have fingerprints on a couple of my fingers now.

Here is the final result:

(yes, it looks kinda square shaped)

Here is it under our tree! The fabrics are purple and white and they both have sparkle in them but you can't tell in the photo.

Tips if you want to make one:

1) I did 2" strips but if I made another one, I would probably do 3" wide strips. The smaller the width, the more ruffly.

2) have LOTS of glue sticks on hand, I think I used 50-60.

3) The best way I found to ruffle the fabric was to put a line of glue on the base about 4-5" long , lay the fabric strip on it and then pull the fabric strip back a little to make the gather.

4) It would be helpful to mark the circle patch for each row so you don't end up with a square looking skirt like I did.

So, I have created my first Pinterest inspired project. I love how it turned out and thus, that further cements my addiction!

You can check out Pinterest here and if you want to join, let me know and I'll send you an invite. It is much faster if a member invites you.

Merry Christmas!

A Sweet way to stamp!

Stampin' meets baking! Yep, with Stampin Up's Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamp you can "stamp" on your cookies. This fabulous new product is now available to all customers. If you came to playday last month, you got to see (and eat) the cookies I made with it.

You get the handle and three stamp discs -a pumpkin face, a snowflake and and heart. They make such great cookies. You also get two recipes with the stamp set but I used a sugar cookie mix and it worked great. For my cookies, I split the dough and colored them with food coloring. I also added sprinkles before baking. One tip I have is to roll the dough a little thicker than if you were using cookie cutters. Since you are pressing into the dough, the thicker the dough the easier to pick up and put on the cookie sheet. Ask me how I know! (ha ha) I also stamped the dough and then cut it out. Since I don't have a round cookie cutter, I used a drinking glass. It fit perfectly.

So, what do you think? Aren't they cute! Just imagine some of these cookies packaged up in a cute little box (made with SU products of course). What a great gift!

Ready to mix stampin' with baking? You can order yours today at my website here.

Color Roundup for Techno Stamper

It is so great to be back in my craft room with some "me" time. I love challenges because they give you a jumping off point for your card or project. Since I became a Stampin Up! demonstator in July, I have found a few new ones to play. Woo hoo!

This card is for two challenges. Holly over at Rubber Redneck has a color challenge (#45) to use Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz and Baja Breeze. These are some of my favorite colors but just never thought to put them together. Duh! The sketch is for the challenge at Techno Stamper (#189).

I really like how it turned out. I may be doing this one at an upcoming workshop or two.

Supplies used:
Crumb Cake cardstock
Pear Pizzazz cardstock
Baja Breeze cardstock
Very Vanilla cardstock
Faith in Nature stamp set (pear)
Easy Events stamp set (words)
Pear Pizzazz ink
Choc. Chip ink & marker
Square Lattice embossing folder
Big Shot!
Chocolate Chip 1/2" Scallop dots Ribbon
Blender pen
Modern label punch

Back to School pencil pouch

It's back to school and also back to bloggin for me. This summer was so crazy busy that I didn't have much crafting time. Now, I've got to figure out where my mojo went on vacation so I can find it! I made a cute little back to school pencil pouch with my customers and it just happens to fit a few challenges.

All the products used are from Stampin Up.
I used a 12"x3" piece of Daffodil Delight cs and scored it at 6" and 1.5". I stamped the alphabet stamp from the Confetti stamp set in real red on whisper white cs, adhered it to real red cs. I added a piece of the striped dp from the Big Top Birthday dp pack. The notebook paper dp is from Just Add Cake. I punched holes with the 1/8" hole punch, cut to the hole and roughed it up. The die cuts are the Beary Bright die from the Build a Bear collection.

So what do you think? I think it turned out very cute.

A few Disney characters

I participated in a Disney scrapbook kit swap on SCS recently. I decided to do a Lilo & Stitch kit and a Monsters Inc kit. For both kits, I used Make the Cut with my Cricut for the characters.

This is the Lilo & Stitch kit I made. I found coloring pages of Lilo & Stitch and used MTC to convert them to cut files for my Cricut. The flower on the journaling box is from Storybook and the title is from Cuttin Up. The dp is by Bo Bunny. It think this is my favorite of the two sets.

For the Monsters Inc set, I found coloring pages of Sully, Boo and Mike to convert into cut files. The journal box is a canister they have to fill up. I made it with the basic shapes in MTC. I used a MS punch on the top border and added googly eyes to some of the monsters.

My favorite thing about this set is that I made Sully FUZZY!!! I had the idea to do this and how I thought I could accomplish it. Guess what? It actually worked! I love it when what I envision in my head actually turns out. The above photo is a close up of Sully so maybe you see that he is fuzzy. He looks great IRL! Oh, how did I do it? I used Fun Flocking on him. After I cut him out and put him together, I then went over the purple spots with my glue pen and added the purple flocking. After I did all the spots, I went back and did the same thing with the blue flocking. Easy peasy! I love adding that little extra to projects to make them WOW.

I hope you enjoyed the projects I shared today. I have lots of cards to show so check back often.

Creative blessings!

Let's COOL off!

I am the hostess of the Scrapbook Variety Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers. I have flaked a little this summer with the challenges but I have one for this week. I am so over this heat wave! I thought we could take a respite by scrapping how you translate COOL. Here is my sample page for the challenge.

All the elements are from Divine Digital's June Download a Day freebies. If you do digital scrapping and didn't know about the download a day freebies, head over there and check it out. Right now the DAD is a baby kit.

Happy Scrapping!

It's been a while!

Wow, it sure has been a while since I've posted anything. I am very sorry to my followers. It's time for an update.

I decided in the spring to "retire" from Creative Memories. I let my time run out the end of June. I thought I would try being a customer for awhile. Well.....Stampin Up! decided to run a great, can't pass up, special for new demonstrators. I love Stampin Up! and have used their products for several years. I discovered SU! after I became a CM consultant. Naturally, I couldn't pass up the special. My time as "just a customer" lasted two week. LOL! I have embarked on a new adventure as a SU! demonstrator. I am very excited about this new chapter in my life. I get to combine both my love of scrapping and my love of card making with Stampin Up!.

So, that's what's been going on here, or at least a little bit of what's been happening. Check back because I do plan on resuming blog posts.

Happy Crafting!

Mouse Encounter

My husband had a 2 day conference to go to in Disney World last week so we decided to make it a family vacation and go down a few days early. We had a fabulous time and the girls and I didn't want to come back! We are already asking when we can go back and both girls have said they want to be dancers in Disney World.

Anyway, I have a lot of photos to scrap and I do mean A LOT!! At times, three of us had cameras and now I have 1300 photos to go thru. There are lots of duplicates and some that won't make the cut so there won't be 1300 in the album. My oldest dd took videos of the fireworks shows and electrical parade so I can get still shots from them with software I have.

So, here is the first page I have completed. It is my sample page for the Scrapbook Variety challenge I hostess at Splitcoast Stampers. My challenge for this week was in honor of our Disney trip - use black, red and white and circles.

The girls got 37 autographs in their autograph books. I scanned in Mickey's autograph to I could add it to this page. I am going to do that with each of the autographs.

background - CM Mickey and Friends
everything else - Britt-ish Designs (Mouse in the House),/p.

Thanks for stopping by. There will be more Disney pages to come, both Digi and Traditional.

Critter Challenge #61

Happy Monday everyone! It is Critter Challenge day and this is my last DT challenge also with Critter Sketch Challenge. I have had a fabulous time serving on the Design Team. I will definitely still be playing along with the challenges! So onto the challenge. The rest of this month, our sponsor is Dustin Pike! He has such cute and adorable images at Doodle Dragon Studios. I discovered his images a couple of years ago when I saw a dragon image on someone's card and just had to check it out. Now, let's get on with the challenge. This week's challenge is to use at least two different punches or dies on your card. I guess I went a little punch/die crazy.

I cut the shaped card with a Creative Memories CCS pattern. The scallop circles are some leftovers from my recent scrapbook retreat gifts. I had cut them out with my cricut . The butterflies punched with the CM butterfly punch. I first stamped on white cs with a stamp and then punched just to add a little something extra to them. The sentiment was punched with CM square punches. The scallop circles and the sentiment are popped up with dimensionals. The dp is from SU.

I hope you liked my card! Be sure to check out the creations the rest of the DT made and join us in the challenge.

Critter Challenge #59

Happy Monday Critters! This is the first Monday of April so we have a new sponsor. The Critter team welcomes TSB for the next two weeks! So, let's get to this week's challenge. The Critter challenge is to use a fancy fold. I don't know what this card fold is called. I did it at a SU stamp club one time. The image I used is a Dustin Pike image. Directions: take 4.5x11 cs and score at 2" and 3 3/4" from each end. fold as a hill at the 2" and a valley at the 3 3/4" . That's it - easy peasy!

Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's creations for some great inspiration.

Fluttering Flowers Frenzy

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I've been a little quiet on my blog lately. I had my scrapbook retreat a couple of weeks ago and afterwards I seemed to have had a major crafting block. But, I am here and I have a cute little card to share with you today. This card was made for the Ways to Use It challenge on SCS (WT316). I used a Deedee's Digis image called Joy & Blessings. Isn't this little butterfly adorable.
I colored it with Copics and cut around the image then popped it up on an oval cut with the CM cutting system. The pink cs is embossed with SU Elegant Lines folder. The blue cs is punched at top and bottom with MS Double Scallop Edger punch. Purple gingham ribbon added to top and bottom and it's done!

Thanks for stopping by!

Critter Challenge #57

Happy Monday everyone! It's time for another Critter challenge. Our sponsor for the month of March is Soft Pencil. There are lots of adorable images!

Now, onto this week's challenge. The challenge for this week is an inspiration one - use this photo for your inspiration.

Here is my card! I used a stamp from a CTMH stamp set, Find Your Style. This was the January Stamp of the Month. I had the pleasure of meeting one of my SCS friends a couple of weeks ago and she is a CTMH consultant and brought me this set. I love it and couldn't wait to ink it up. (Thank you Lela!) I chose the colors and the water for my inspiration.

I hope you get a chance to play the critter challenge this week. Be sure to check out all the other DT members projects for lots of inspiration!

I used one of my favorite images of Deedee's - Lifted Up. I colored the image with copics and then sponged around it with SU Bordering Blue. The yellow cs is SU, the green dp is from my scraps. The blue strips are CM paper ribbon.

I finished the inside with the sentiment that comes with the image.

Your next stop on the hop is Rhonda.

Scrapbook Variety Challenge

Did I mention that I am now the Scrapbook Variety Challenge hostess on Splitcoast Stampers? Yep, I am! I am so excited about this. Last year I seemed to focus more on cards and less on scrapbooking so I am trying to balance that out this year. Being the hostess, I know I'll at least get 1 page a week done. LOL!
I thought I would share the sample pages I have made so far and hopefully inspire you to come join in my challenge each week. All the challenges can be found on SCS here.

This first page was for SBVC139 - Texting Shortcuts (use texting lingo on your page).

The layout for this page is Valerie Salmon's sketch 91 at Got Sketch. I love her sketches! All the paper is CM and the middle strip is CM paper ribbon. The buttons are CM paper buttons and the sun is a chipboard piece.

This next page is SBVC140- A Banner Day (use a banner on your page).

The sketch is SBSC258B on SCS. The paper is SU Rainbow Sherbet. I cut the banner triangles out with my cricut and Make the Cut. They are popped up with dimensionals.

This page is for SBVC141 - March Month of Holidays (use a bizarre or crazy March holiday as your inspiration).
I used a border I made last year that used a CM spring addition set. This is for Take a Walk in the Park Day which is March 30th.

That brings me to this week. This week's challenge is SBVC142 - Frame It (frame a photo instead of matting it).

The bg is SU cs. The basket, butterfly and border are from a border swap I did last year. For my frame I took one of the photo mats from the swap and cut out the center and placed the photo behind it.

I hope you come over and join my challenges at SCS.

Let's Do Lunch

Hello blogging crafters! I have cute quick card for you today. I made this card for the SCS Technique Lover's challenge, TLC315. We were challenge to make an odd shaped card. I decided to use the lunch bag digi stamp from Deedee' Digis set Keep in Touch. I copied the image in PSE and flipped the copy then moved them together so they were touching at the bag tops. I printed it on SU Kraft cs and also printed one image on red cs for the apple. I popped the apple up with dimensionals. The sentiment was cut out with the CM cutting system. I also ran my embossing stylus along the bag creases on the side of the bag but it doesn't show up well in the photo. I sponged Choc chip ink on the bag too.

This set is so cute. There is also a telephone and an envelope like and email envelope. Deedee just added lots of new sets in the store so be sure to drop by and check them out - Deedee's Digis.

I am also entering this card in the following challenge(s):
Stamp Something: March digi week
Aly's Sunday Challenge: anything goes
Catch the Bug: anything goes
Craft Your Passion: #48 Anything Goes
Stamps R Us: In the kitchen (sack lunch is made in the kitchen)

Critter Challenge #55

Happy Monday everyone! We have a wonderful sketch challenge over at the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog. Before I show you my card, let me tell you about the sponsor for March. The Critter team welcomes Soft Pencil as the March sponsor. Soft Pencil has super cute images so be sure to check them out.
Now, onto the challenge for this week. This week we had a sketch to use created by our very own DT member, Crystal! It is a wonderful and easy sketch to use which is just what I needed. I am in the midst of getting ready for a scrapbook weekend retreat this coming weekend so my craft room is a mess! Well, more of a mess than usual. I have been busy busy making the gifts for all our attendees (about 42) so it's been a little crazy. So you see, easy was perfect. It only took me about 20 minutes to make this card.

I used the Soft Pencil image, Ladybug and Flower. I added a sentiment from SU Friend to Friend set. The green dp is SU, red cs is HL, yellow dp is CM. Ribbon is from M's. I colored the image with copics and added the black half pearls. There you go, easy and cute!

We would love to have you play with us at the Critter blog and be sure to check out the other DTs' fabulous pieces of inspiration!

Feature Friday - Inking Idaho

Happy Friday everyone! It's the weekend! I can't believe it is already the middle of February.

I have a fabulously creative person and her blog to introduce you to today! Today's Feature Friday blog is Inking Idaho and the person behind all this creativity is Becky Roberts. I have been a subscriber to her blog for quite a while and absolutely LOVE everything she makes. I am just in awe of what Becky can create out of paper. But she doesn't keep all this creativity to herself. Check out her tutorials! I have purchased some of them and they are so worth the small price. The instructions are very detailed with pictures included for those that are visual learners like myself.

Becky was gracious enough to answer a few questions for me.

Q: How long have you been crafting?
A: I'm not real crafty per say, I just stamp...and I only use Stampin' Up! This is my 10th year.

Q: What is/are your favorite color(s) to work with?
A: Reds and pinks

Q: What is your favorite tool to use?
A: The Big Shot, baby!!!!!

Q: What do you draw inspiration from the most?
A: I find inspiration everywhere, but a trip to a fine stationary store always does the trick for me!

Q: Do you have a tip to share?
A: It's just a piece of paper, use it! Cut it up, stamp all over it, crust it, die-cut it, tear it and enjoy it!

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share?
A: As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I've never had a bad day at work. I love the freedom to work from home, be my own boss and share my creativity with my customers and everyone who visits my blog.

One more little tidbit about Becky - she was the demonstrator that had the 10,000th demonstrator sign up with SU in 2010. How cool is that? Congrats, Becky!

Here are links to just a few of my favorite projects on Inking Idaho!
Didn't I tell you she was fabulous!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed today's Feature Friday!

SURPRISE Birthday Party for Deedee!

Hi everyone! I am so glad you joined us today for a Surprise Blog Hop for Deedee.
She is such a creative, dedicated and caring person. It is an honor to give her this special day! So let me show you (and Deedee) the card I made for her.

The bear and the top sentiment inside the card is from Beary Happy Birthday. The Happy Birthday is from Birthday Sentiments. I used the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder on the front and sanded it so the white core of the cardstock shows and the embossing shows up better. The scalloped circle is a Spellbinders die and the ribbon is SU. I used the SU scallop border punch inside.

Thank you so much for hopping along and celebrating Deedee's birthday with us. If you haven't visited the other participants you can find their links below.

Deedee's Birthday Blog Hop participants

Exciting news is coming soon! You will want to check the craft blog this Sunday, Feb. 13th for some exciting news that Deedee has to announce! There are lots of new and wonderful things happening with Deedee's Digis! Do I have your curiosity up? Good! Check it out Sunday!

There are lots of great images and even some digi paper available in the store. You really should go check it out. She just opened up a new store and has all digital stamps and papers on sale for 30% off! How great is that!

Now, onto my page! I used some digi paper from Robyn's Fetish called Oriental Beauty and the penguin is a digi stamp called Paul Penguin Sleighing. I colored it in Photoshop and used it in my CM Storybook Creator Plus software. Isn't he cute!

I hope you enjoyed my project and maybe inspired you to create! Thanks for stopping by!

Me and my BFF - GYSO #5

used VSBN on SplitcoastStampers this weekend to get my page done for challenge sketch #5 at Get Your Sketch On. The VSBN challenge was to make a clean and simple page with minimal embellishments. It worked out great for the sketch challenge.

For my letters, I didn't want just plain white so I stamped with versamark and heat embossed with mustard embossing powder before I cut them out. It adds just enough to them.

paper - SU
flowers - K&Company
letters - Cricut and Alphalicious cartridge
misc. brads

Feature Friday - Everyday Cricut

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I'm running late with this post but I'm here now. Today I want to feature a site called Everyday Cricut.

OMG! Joy and Melanie make magic happen with a Cricut, a cartridge and some paper! Every day there is a new project posted using one of the Cricut machines. There is usually one cartridge highlighted on the project. I really like how they make you 'see' a cartridge in a whole new light. There are cartridges I think I wouldn't possbily use but then a project is done with it and that cartridge immediately goes on my must have list. There are also video tutorials on the Cricut, Gypsy and various project techniques. Oh, did I mention they have a weekly giveaway for a cartridge?! Here are some links to a just a few of my favorite projects:

I better stop now. I hope you get a chance to check out Everyday Cricut. There is so much inspiration and ideas there. You are sure to find something to inspire you and maybe add more to your "must have" list. Sorry about that part!
Have a great weekend!

What's That Wednesday - Clipboard

Hello and welcome to another edition to What's That Wednesday! Today I would like to share a project I made a few weeks ago. On one the forum websites I frequent, Creative Soup, we had a launch party with lots of challenges and games. One of the challenges was to alter a clipboard. I didn't have a clipboard so I made my own.

I save cardboard from paper packs, CM page protector packs and whatever else I get that has the thick cardboard in the packaging. I took one of those pieces and cut to the size I wanted. I then covered the cardboard with my selected paper.

I also have a stash of items I have found while browsing the $1 aisle and $1 bin at Target and Michael's. Some of the things I usually pick up are notepads and post it note pads. I pulled one of each from my stash and used a decorative binder clip to clip the note pad on and made a pocket to hold the post it note pad. I punched a hole in the top left corner with my Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite punch to tie ribbon to hold a pen.

The best thing is all the paper came from my scraps.

Next time you see a project you want to try, first think about what you already have that you can use to make it or something similar.

Thanks for stopping by!

Critter Monday!

Good Monday morning! Monday means it's time for another Critter Sketch challenge. The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring the challenges for January. Tracey has lots of fabulous images so head over there and check them out.

Now onto the challenge. This week Melanie gave us a DOUBLE CHALLENGE! She wants to see distressing and circles. I chose to do a scrapbook layout for this challenge.
I stamped the blue base with a soccer ball stamp (there's my circles) and versamark ink. The dp and yellow paper were cut with my Cricut. Now for my distressing part. I tore a strip of white paper on both sides and sponged the torn edges with black ink. I also distressed the black photo mats' edges with my Heidi Swapp distressing tool. Here is a closeup to show the distressing.

I used last week's sketch from Get Your Sketch On for the layout. Since I couldn't post this page until today, it didn't get entered in last week's challenge but I did another page. You can see it in my previous post.

Be sure to check out the other Critter DT posts.

Thanks for stopping by! Come back Wednesday for a new What's That Wednesday!

GYSO #3 - Splash!

I created this page for the 3rd challenge at Get Your Sketch On. I had actually made another page for the challenge but after I was finished, realized I couldn't use it because it was for my Critter DT post for tomorrow (Monday). So be sure to check back tomorrow and see that layout also.

This page is the first digital page I have done in a while. I even did it in Photoshop Elements which is HUGE for me. My oldest daughter had an audition today for a summer dance program at her ballet school. The audition is more to give them practice in auditioning than whether or not they will make it in the program. I knew I would be there for at least a couple of hours (ended up being four!) so I took my laptop and decided to work on some digi stuff. I am pretty pleased with how this page turned out. Especially considering that I was limited in what I had available on my laptop, didn't have my Photoshop reference book and no Wi-Fi access.
Everything is from Shabby Princess. The paper is from the set called Sweet Serenity set and the alpha is from Express Yourself.

(update: this page made Top 5 at Get Your Sketch On!)

Thanks for stopping by and visiting.

Feature Friday -

Hello and welcome to Feature Friday! Today I have a wonderful site to share with you that I, myself, just recently discovered. It is

This site is amazing! If you own a Cricut, whether it is the baby bug, Expression, Cake or Imagine, you will want to visit and bookmark this website. This family created website has every image on every Cricut cartridge catalogued into a searchable database. Now, I know you can do a keyword search in Design Studio and on the Gypsy but, it's not very good. I have searched for something on Design Studio and know I have a cartridge with the image and none of my cartridges show up in the list given. is wonderful! Instead of a list of cartridges that have the searched image, you will see the exact page in the cartridge's handbook and you are given the page number and keypad number.

I have 32 cartridges and it impossible to remember everything that is on every cartridge I own. I have had instances where an image came up on a cartridge I have but didn't remember it. Trust me, don't spend all your time looking through your cartridges for something. Simply go to and find it in minutes and get the most out of your Cricut cartridges and your time. You may even find some hidden gems on your cartridges!

GYSO sketch #2

I was finally able to sit down and work on a page for sketch #2 at Get Your Sketch On. Here is the sketch for this week:

Since I crop my photos before I have them printed it was a little difficult to find photos I could work with for the sketch. I finally decided upon some photos of my youngest dd and her best friend. The 52 week challenge on the scrapbook goal thread on SCS was to use lots of flowers on your layout. Yep, I've got that covered! The challenge at the Scrap and Stamp blog was "anything goes', it just needs to be a layout and have at least one stamp on it. Yep, got that too!

Stamping is not something I normally do on my layouts just like using my Cricut for cards is not something I normally do. This year I would like to try and break that habit. I stamped the white cs with the border in SU Vintage Vogue set in Pear Pizazz and the floral swirl in each corner in Blushing Bride. I also stamped the F in Pear Pizazz and cut it out. There are three little butterflies in some of the flower centers. I first stamped the floral swirl in Blushing Bride and then punched the butterflies out. I did the same thing with the title before cutting it out with Alphalicious cartridge.

This LO also qualifies for the following challenges:
Stamp Something: anything goes but must be stamped
CES Challenge: #19 no designer papers
Whoopsie Daisy: no designer papers
Stampin B's: use die cuts
